Seven GO members met up early on Saturday to enjoy early spring in Boston.  Starting in Newton, we wound our way along the Charles River Greenway for most of its 20 miles.  The Greenway hugs the river, affording us wonderful views of crew boats training for the upcoming season, a multitude of waterfowl, and, eventually, sailboats along the Esplanade.  The weather was partly cloudy, and, as if on cue, our one brief shower started as we had shelter under a Storrow Drive overpass.  All of the GO members on this hike are going to the Grand Canyon in May and it was great to get a long walk in together leading up to that trip.  In particular, we were grateful to have Don with us, who drove all the way from West Virginia to join us for dinner on Friday and the Boston Urban Hike on Saturday.

Once in Boston proper, we started following the Freedom Trail and saw the State House (with three protests/counterprotests happening simultaneously), the Park Street Church, the Granary Burying Ground, the Old Corner Bookstore, the Old South Meeting House, the Old State House, and Faneuil Hall, where we stopped for lunch.  We ended the day with a tour of the Constitution, though it was a brief tour due to our weary feet.  Overall, it was a fantastic day of natural beauty, Revolutionary history, and camaraderie.  Thank you so much, JT, for leading this wonderful event!
